MRT and EcuTeK Back Wilson Brothers Racing
In line with MRT's strong links with motorsport, a partnership has been extended with Wilson Brothers racing for the Bathurst 12 Hour race this weekend, and the entire 2009 season.
The team will run three Subaru Impreza WRX Stis in the race for mildly race modified production cars.
The cars are based in Queensland and tuned locally in Brisbane by Mercury Motorsport.
Using the factory ECU, EcuteK software is utilised to allow full control and adjustment of the cars key performance parts, such as Ignition timing, fuel control, boost and more.
MRT has previously been involved in Production Car racing with Subarus, and have in the past won the Australian GTP Championships as head tuners.
"This is the first time we have sponsored the team for a full season and starting with the WPS Bathurst 12hr its a great way to kick of the year," said Brett Middleton.
“The team is very professional and have a strong finishing record, this proves what we (and Mercury Motorsport) do is reliable, so it’s a win/win situation for us and the team and it shows our clients what can be achieved.”
The EcuTek software allows features to be used to assist the driver in ensuring the car is fast and reliable which is important at events such as Bathurst, where the huge climb up the mountain and then the fast straight back down puts enormous loads on the cars engine.
The ECU also controls critical safety back systems that ensure that the engine is not over-revved, or over boosted, this is often a problem in race cars that have poorly tuned afetrmarket systems.
Using the factory system and making small detailed adjustments, the EcuTeK software allows the best of both worlds of reliability and performance.
MRT are Australia’s leading Subaru specialists and are based in the Sydney Subaru of Rhodes, they have prepared championship winning race and rally cars over the last 20 years, headed up by company MD, Brett Middleton.
"Motorsport proves what can be done and then we offer that for road car cleints, our passion for road can race use is part of our daily culture at MRT, said Middleton.
In partnership with MRT, Mercury motorsport utilise their 4WD dyno to test and tune all the cars, whilst MRT provides valuable research and development back up from their long history in motorsport.
