Solid Foundations for Castle at Eastern Creek

A hectic week for Wilson Brothers Racing is bearing fruit, with a solid top five performance for Lee Castle and the team’s Subaru WRX Sti at Eastern Creek Raceway today in practice for the second round of the Australian Manufacturers Championship.

After missing the first practice session, Castle bounced back strongly on his first ever visit to the facility.

“I’m fairly happy with the car, and there is a bit more time to come from it tomorrow in qualifying, and with a few more tweaks we should be right there,” said Castle.

“I’m surprised to be on the Mitsubishi EVO 10's pace around here, especially after they were throwing new tyres at their cars throughout today.

“We have new tyres lined up for qualifying, and hopefully there will be a good gain from that.”

A delighted Cameron Wilson, team principal of Wilson Brothers Racing, is in a positive mindset coming into the weekend.

“With the level of competition here this weekend, I think fifth fastest in practice is a fantastic result for the team, and we are clearly the fastest WRX,” said Wilson.

“Lee did a great job adapting to another new circuit, and we certainly know where we can make some more gains tomorrow.

“We had a slight electrical gremlin earlier, but I feel we are on top of that and we are looking forward to a good weekend.”

The week started badly for the team, when the car’s primary engine blew at Morgan Park Raceway on Wednesday, but some long hours have ensured the number 25 Subaru will be on the grid this weekend.

“I really have to thank Garry Mennell from Ontrack Motorsport for use of their facility here in Sydney, without it there is no way we could have made this weekend’s racing,” said Wilson.

“The effort my brother Benn has put in has been nothing short of incredible, and I also must acknowledge the job done by John Desmond from Mercury Motorsport for his help on the dyno this morning.”

Lee Castle and Wilson Brothers Racing would like to thank Castrol, Mercury Motorsport, Ecutek, MRT Performance, Ingear Industries, Racer Industries, Harris Visual 3D and Deluxe Screen Printing for their continued support.
